Instructions for Distance Reiki

1. ALWAYS begin with Thanks.

2. Draw an invisible Cho Ku Rei on the palms of your hands with your finger, seeing yourself being protected by the Power Symbol, knowing only love can be given and received. Press your hands together in a prayer position in front of your heart chakra (the middle of your chest) and chant the name Cho Ku Rei 3 times. This Cho Ku Rei is for you.

3. State your intention. An example is "I give thanks for this gift to send love to ___________and to be able to say goodbye, so _____________knows they are always loved."
4. Draw an invisible Cho Ku Rei (say the name 3 times) and Hon She Ze Sho Nen (say the name 3 times) with your finger in the air in front of you, visualizing the person between your hands, holding your hands comfortably about 6-12 inches apart. This Cho Ku Rei is for the other.
**If you prefer to use a prop, i.e., a photo, a piece of paper with the name and location of a loved one, then draw an invisible Cho Ku Rei (say the name 3 times) and the invisible Hon She Ze Sho Nen (say the name 3 times) on the prop with your finger. Using an accessory is especially helpful for beginners. Hold the item between your hands.
5. Say Hon She Ze Sho Nen, "name" in "location." (Fill in your name and location.) Repeat 3 times. (or more if you are so compelled).
6. Talk to the person you are connecting with or simply focus on sending the person Reiki/love.

7. Repeat saying Hon She Ze Sho Nen and the person's name every few minutes to hold on to the connection and keep yourself focus if you need to. This is not necessary but can be helpful.

8. Close the session when you have completed your conversation, or you have finished sending Reiki, by drawing another Cho Ku Rei in the air where you imagine the person to be, or on a picture if one was used. Restate your intent. An example is "May Reiki Energy continue to heal for as long as it is needed," or "May we both feel the love that flows between us wherever we are, healing us both."
9. Seal the act with words of Thanks.
**This gift of the ability to use Reiki energy is not for an individual's monetary gain. A Reiki Master Certificate is required to practice Reiki for compensation. Only a Certified Reiki Master Teacher, with a copy of their lineage, is qualified to teach Reiki. This act is an emergency order for personal use only.

An average session is about 40-60 minutes, beginning to end. It can be longer or shorter.

There are multiple ways to customize Distance Reiki. Finding the way that feels right for you will make your sessions more dynamic.

Once you connect to the person you love, you can say what you need to. If you feel anger, sorrow, hurt, guilty, or anything else, you can speak to them as if they are in the room. Those emotions are all forms of love. Being angry is not the same as being evil because evil is an absolute lack of love. Reiki is a safe space to speak your heart and heal.

There is no wrong way to send Love.
"I behold the truth of all truths, and the truth of all truths is that we are all one."

When sending Reiki to someone, do not expect them to change in any way. Reiki is love, not control. We cannot see all ends. We don't get to choose what is best for anyone else. What another person chooses or believes may be an essential part of their life path or even our life path towards tolerance and understanding.

The Essential Elements of Distance Reiki
  • Keeping yourself protected with the Cho Ku Rei

  • Drawing and chanting Hon She Ze Sho Nen (you can keep a picture nearby for reference in drawing, but you are encouraged to memorize that incredible symbol for better focus.)

  • Stay focused on the individual. (Repeating the recipient's name, and the name of the symbols can help.)
